The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
