The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
