The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
