A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers). 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then surely, We shall narrate unto them (their whole story) with knowledge, and indeed We were not absent. 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
