And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
