The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
