The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
