Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
