(O Muhammad), they ask you about Dhu al-Qarnayn. Say: "I will give you an account of him." 83 Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing. 84 So he followed a way 85 until when he reached the very limits where the sun sets, he saw it setting in dark turbid waters; and nearby he met a people. We said: "O Dhu al-Qarnayn, you have the power to punish or to treat them with kindness." 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 But as for him who believes and does righteous deeds - he will have the ultimate good [of the life to come] as his reward; and [as for us,] we shall make binding on him [only] that which is easy to fulfill." 88 Then he followed the road, 89 until he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising upon a nation for whom We provided no veil against it to shade them. 90 Thus was the state of those people, and We encompassed in knowledge all concerning Dhu al- Qarnayn. 91 Thereafter he followed a way. 92 Until, when he came between two mountains, he found before them a nation that did not appear to understand any speech. 93 They said: 'O Dhu'l-Qarnain, Gog and Magog are oppressing the land. May we pay you some tribute so that you could build a rampart between us and them?" 94 He said: That in which my Lord has established me is better, therefore you only help me with workers, I will make a fortified barrier between you and them; 95 "Give me pieces (blocks) of iron," then, when he had filled up the gap between the two mountain-cliffs, he said: "Blow," till when he had made it (red as) fire, he said: "Bring me molten copper to pour over it." 96 So they [Gog and Magog] were not able to scale it, nor were they able to bore through it, 97 Said [the King]: "This is a mercy from my Sustainer! Yet when the time appointed by my Sustainer shall come, He will make this [rampart] level with the ground: and my Sustainer's promise always comes true!" 98 ۞ On that day We shall leave them to surge like waves on one another: the trumpet will be blown, and We shall collect them all together. 99 And We will bring forth hell, exposed to view, on that day before the unbelievers. 100 whose eyes were blinded to My remembrance and they were not able to hear. 101
