And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, then you will be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
