Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 and obey not the commandment of the prodigal 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said, "You are only bewitched and insane. 153 “You are just a human like us; therefore bring some sign if you are truthful.” 154 Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
