And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
