۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
