He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
