The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
