The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Prophet, have fear of God and do not yield to the infidels and hypocrites. God is All-knowing and All-wise. 1 And follow that which is revealed to thee from thy Lord; verily Allah is of that which ye work ever Aware. 2 Trust in God and be sure that He is a Sufficient Guardian. 3 God has not placed two hearts in any man's body, nor has He made your wives -- from whom you keep away by saying, "Be as my mother's back" -- your [real] mothers, neither He has made your adopted sons as your own sons. These are merely words which you utter with your mouths: but God speaks the truth and gives guidance to the right path. 4 Call them after their own fathers; that is closer to justice in the sight of God. If you do not know their fathers, regard them as your brothers in faith and your proteges. You will not be blamed if you make a mistake, you will be held accountable only for what in your hearts you have done intentionally. God is forgiving and merciful. 5 Surely the Prophet has a greater claim over the believers than they have over each other, and his wives are their mothers. According to the Book of Allah, blood relatives have greater claim over each other than the rest of the believers and the Emigrants (in the cause of Allah), except that you may do some good to your allies (if you so wish). This is inscribed in the Book of Allah. 6 And when We took compact from the Prophets, and from thee, and from Noah, and Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, Mary's son; We took from them a solemn compact, 7 So that He may question the truthful regarding their truth; and He has kept prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers. 8
