A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
