It is He who sends down water from the sky. From it you drink and with it trees grow on which you pasture your cattle. 10 With which He makes crops grow, and olives, dates and grapes and fruits of every kind for you. In this is a sign for those who think. 11 And He has made the night and the day and the sun and the moon subservient [to His laws, so that they be of use] to you; and all the stars are subservient to His command: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who use their reason! 12 And other things of different shades has He produced on the earth for you. In this are signs for those who reflect. 13 And He it is Who has made the sea subservient that you may eat fresh flesh from it and bring forth from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships cleaving through it, and that you might seek of His bounty and that you may give thanks. 14 And He has cast great mountains in the earth lest it might be convulsed with you, and rivers and roads that you may go aright, 15 And also landmarks; and by the stars they are guided. 16 Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded? 17 If you tried to count God's blessings, you would never be able to number them. God is ever forgiving and most merciful. 18 And God knows what you keep secret and what you publish. 19 And those whom they call on besides Allah have not created anything while they are themselves created; 20 dead, not alive; and are not aware when they shall be raised. 21
