And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 if He will, He calms the wind so that they remain motionless upon its back, surely, there are signs in this for every thankful, patient (person). 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves, 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame]. 41 The way of blame is only against those who wrong mankind, and rebel in the earth without justice; these! for them is a torment afflictive. 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
