The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
