He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
