Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say: 'It is revealed to me that a party of jinn listened then said: "We have indeed heard a wonderful Koran, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son 3 And the foolish among us were wont to forge lies against Allah exceedingly. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 so much so that they came to think, as you [once] thought, that God would never [again] send forth anyone [as His apostle]. 7 We sought to pry into the secrets of the heavens, but found it full of fierce guards and shooting flames. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 Some of us have surrendered (Muslims) and some of us have deviated. Those who surrendered sought the Right Path, 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 ‘In order to test them with it; and whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put him in a punishment that keeps on increasing.’ 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
