He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
