And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 It is a Blessed Book that We have sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad), so that those possessed with minds might ponder its verses and remember. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 [Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses. 31 Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said): 32 He said, "Bring them back to me." Then he started to rub their legs and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 And We subjected to him the evil ones: every builder and diver. 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
