The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
