He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
