The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
