The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
