The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
