He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he feareth 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
