So did you observe him who turned away? 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
