The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
