The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
