The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
