Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
