The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
