The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
