Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
