The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
