And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
