The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
