The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
