Women (Al-Nesaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ O ye mankind! fear your Lord; Who created you of a single soul and He created therefrom the spouse thereof, and of the twain He spread abroad men manifold and women. And fear Allah by Whom ye importune one another, and the wombs. Verily Allah is ever over you a Watcher. 1 And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defective [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin. 2 If you fear that you cannot act justly towards the orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you; two, three, four of them. But if you fear that you cannot do justice, then one only, or, those you possess. It is likelier then that you will not be partial. 3 Give to women their dowers willingly, but if they forego part of it themselves, then use it to your advantage. 4 But do not give to fools their property that God has assigned to you to manage; provide for them and clothe them out of it, and speak to them honourable words. 5 Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is Allah in taking account. 6 There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related, whether, the property be small or large - a legal share. 7 And when the relatives and orphans and the needy collect at the time of the division (of property) provide for them too, and talk kindly to them. 8 And let those [executors and guardians] fear [injustice] as if they [themselves] had left weak offspring behind and feared for them. So let them fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. 9 Those who devour the property of orphans unjustly, devour Fire in their bellies, and shall assuredly roast in a Blaze. 10
