And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
