۞ Say those who look not to encounter Us, 'Why have the angels not been sent down on us, or why see we not our Lord?' Waxed proud they have within them, and become greatly disdainful. 21 On the day when the criminals see the angels, there will, certainly, be no rejoicing for them. Rather, they will plead to the angels, "Please keep away from us (do not drive us into hell)." 22 Then We shall turn to what they had done and render it vain like scattered dust. 23 The inhabitants of the Garden will have the best residence and the finest lodging on that Day. 24 On a Day when the sky will split open with its clouds and the angels are sent down rank upon rank, 25 the Kingdom that day, the true Kingdom, shall belong to the All-merciful and it shall be a day harsh for the unbelievers. 26 It will be a hard day for the unbelievers. It will be a day when the unjust will bite their fingers, (regretfully) saying, "Would that we had followed the path of the Messengers. 27 Oh, woe is me! Would that I had not taken so-and-so for a friend! 28 He led me astray from the Warning after it had come to me. Satan always betrays man. 29 And the messenger saith: O my Lord! Lo! mine own folk make this Qur'an of no account. 30 Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper. 31 The disbelievers say, "Why has not the entire Qur'an been sent down to this man all at once?" -Well, this has been done to impress it deeply on your mind, and (for the same object) We have sent it down piecemeal by degrees. 32 And (there is another wisdom in this: whenever they brought to you an odd thing (or a strange question), We sent its right answer to you in time and explained it all in the best manner, 33 Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces, such will be in an evil state, and most astray from the (Straight) Path. 34
