And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire! 27 Shall We make those who believe and do good deeds equal to those who spread turmoil in the earth? Or shall We equate the pious with the disobedient? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 And We bestowed Sulaiman to Dawud; what an excellent bondman! He is indeed most inclined. 30 When there were brought to him in the evening (horses) still when standing, swift when running-- 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 "Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And, indeed We did try Sulaiman (Solomon) and We placed on his throne Jasadan (a devil, so he lost his kingdom for a while) but he did return (to his throne and kingdom by the Grace of Allah and he did return) to Allah with obedience and in repentance. 34 He prayed, "Lord forgive me! Grant me such power as no one after me will have -- You are the Most Generous Provider." 35 So We subjected to him the wind, that ran at his commandment, softly, wherever he might light on, 36 And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds, 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 'This is Our gift; bestow or withhold without reckoning.' 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
