The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
