The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
