Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
