The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
